Article I.


The officers of the chapter shall be:

Captain (similar to a corporation President)

Quarter Master (similar to a corporation Vice-President)

Sailing Master (similar to a corporation Secretary)

Boatswain (similar to a corporation Treasurer)

Master Gunner (similar to a corporation Warden)

First Mate (similar to a corporation Sergeant at Arms)

Powder Monkey (similar to a corporation Assistant Sergeant at Arms)


Article II.

The governing board, with duties and responsibilities similar to that of a board of directors, shall be known as the pirate ship joe.


Article III.

The council shall consist of 5 members. This shall include, the Captain, Quarter Master, Sailing Master, Boatswain, and the Master Gunner.


Article IV.

The Captain, Quarter Master, Sailing Master, Boatswain, and Master Gunner shall be installed to their positions for a minimum of 3 (three) years unless unable, unwilling, or found incompetent of their duties.


Article V.


The former Captains’ shall be ex-offio members of the council.


Article VI.

When vacancies occur in the council, replacements shall be made by a committee consisting of the Captain, Quarter Master, and the Sailing Master.



Article VII.

In the event of death, incapacity, or abdication of the Captain, Quarter Master, Sailing Master, Boatswain, Master Gunner, First Mate or Powder Monkey, his successor shall be chosen by the Council.


Article VIII.

The council shall have power to provide for dues, assessments and fines


Article IX.


Three members of the council shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.


Article X.


The council shall serve without pay


Article XI.

The Caption shall appoint committees as he may deem fit, and prescribe their duties.


Article XII.

The council shall have power to amend these by-laws: which shall require a two-thirds (2/3) affirmative vote at two (2) successive meetings.


Article XIII.


There shall be only one (1) class of member in this organization, namely active members.


Article XIV.

The present members of the Captain Robert Gray Historical Foundation are automatically members of the corporation, and hereafter men interested in the history of the Columbia River shall be admitted to the chapter upon approval of the council, or a committee thereof.


Article XV.


After chapter status is acquired, the current chair positions will be installed as approved upon later.
